WRLC Presents the International Women’s Day Lunch 2024
Come for the lunch, stay for the fun! The WRLC is excited to host this year’s IWD Lunch in support of the Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region. We are thrilled to be welcoming Dr Julie Mueller, Associate Dean, Graduate and Research, and Dr Eden Hennessey, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Data Specialist, from Wilfrid Laurier University (WLUFA), as our keynote speakers. The United Way Labour Day Picnic is a great way to end your summer. Your local labour community has provided food and entertainment to make your day special! All we ask for in return is a pay-what-you-can donation to the United Way Waterloo Region Communities. New this year, we will have “tap” payment available, so you don’t need to bring any cash!
Better yet reach out to the United Way to find out how you can volunteer to help out for the day!
This year’s picnic is special to us as it has been renamed in honour of our Labour Council’s past Treasurer Ed Weidinger. Ed Weidinger was the WRLC Treasurer for over 25 years – the longest-serving Labour Council Treasurer when he died in April 2021. He was a life-long labour activist and dedicated to improving the lives of all Waterloo Region workers. Our community Labour Day Picnic and BBQ has been renamed in his honour.

United Way Waterloo Region Communities is relaunching a local golf tournament, in support of the critical needs that uplift and connect our community. We fill critical gaps through our network of supported local agencies working with volunteers, donors, and corporate sponsors to help the most vulnerable people and families in our region. Please join us for this enjoyable day with a purpose!Golf for a Cause is a great opportunity to invite friends, colleagues, or clients to be part of our United efforts. Registration is open, and limited to 36 teams, so register today to guarantee your space. On April 29, 2023, Labour/Union night will celebrate workers and also recognize the Day of Mourning, which is the day before the game. They are offering $5 off the ticket price when you use the code UNION at checkout. They will be playing the Sudbury 5.
