Egale is Canada’s leading organization for 2SLGBTQI people and issues. Egale improves and saves lives through research, education, awareness, and by advocating for human rights and equality in Canada and around the world. Their work helps create societies and systems that reflect the universal truth that all persons are equal, and none will be othered.
Egale will facilitate a free virtual workshop for OSSTF/FEESO Members. The workshop will be a fusion of their Introduction to 2SLGBTQI Inclusion: Building Inclusive Schools and Affirming Adults webinars.
OSSTF/FEESO resoundingly rejects statements made by Premier Doug Ford and Minister of Education Stephen Lecce that attempt to manufacture false divisions between parents, educators, and students over issues of student privacy and gender expression.
Recently, Waterloo Region has seen an increasing tide of hate-motivated actions and attacks. The Waterloo Regional Labour Council is forming a Anti-Hate Response Network to work alongside community groups to organize counter-protests. OSSTF/FEESO is pleased to be able to continue its support of province-wide Pride celebrations. Recognition and support of 2SLGBTQI+ Members, students, families, and communities are an important part of the solidarity work done by OSSTF/FEESO and other labour organizations. As plans for local Pride celebrations across the province are announced, you are encouraged to get involved and show your support.
OSSTF/FEESO has been a proud participant at the Pride Toronto annual celebrations for several years and will be involved again in 2022, in its 42nd year. The festival is one of the largest Pride celebrations in the world, bringing together people from all over Ontario as well as other provinces and countries to celebrate the history, courage, diversity and future of Ontario’s 2SLGBTQI+ communities.
The Pride Toronto organizers are excited to be able to return to an in-person month of events and will ensure Pride Month and the Festival Weekend will be organized in alignment with the City of Toronto’s Public Health recommendations.

On Sunday, June 26, OSSTF/FEESO will be marching in the Pride Toronto Parade. There will be music, T-shirts for marchers and swag to hand out along the parade route. We encourage Districts and their Members to attend this festival and end their visit by marching with OSSTF/FEESO in the parade.
