The Wilfrid Laurier University Staff Association (WLUSA) has negotiated a comprehensive benefits package as part of our commitment to supporting the well-being of our Members. Our benefits package includes a range of programs and services that encourage a healthy work-life balance. Benefit Package Highlights

  1. Extended Health, Dental and Vision Care: The University offers a comprehensive benefits package for Members, their spouse and dependents. Improvements to the package occur through the collective bargaining process.
  2. Life Insurance and Disability Insurance Benefits: Basic life insurance is provided by the University. Other insurance packages, such as Long Term Disability, are offered to Members at competitive rates.
  3. Pension and Retirement Services: The University remains one of the few employers left to offer extended health and dental benefits when you retire.
  4. Professional Development Fund: Members looking to upgrade their skills can apply for financial assistance through the Professional Development Fund.
  5. Tuition Waiver Program: Members are provided free tuition to most undergraduate and graduate level courses and programs offered by the University.
  6. Financial Assistance for Computer/Peripherals Purchase: Instalment plans to purchase any technology through the University’s Bookstore is available for Members at a low interest prescribed by the Canada Revenue Agency.
  7. Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP): EFAP provides confidential, professional counselling services that are free, voluntary and high-quality through Homewood Health Inc. Services are available to all WLUSA members and their dependents.
  8. Childcare Services: Members have priority access to Emmanuel Day Care just blocks from the Waterloo campus.
  9. Job Protection: The Collective Agreement provides for a progressive discipline approach when it comes to performance management. Additionally, when positions are restructured, Members affected are given priority access to any new positions that become available.
