Karen Cleaver (Chair)
The mission of the CPAC Committee is to develop strategies to communicate relevant issues and information to WLUSA/OSSTF members.
- To promote the importance of WLUSA/OSSTF and unions in general
- To promote the pride and participation of members in protecting and enhancing quality service to the patrons of the university
- To collaborate with other OSSTF committees, councils and workgroups on issues of mutual concerns
- To keep members informed of WLUSA/OSSTF events/updates
- To help write and put together “Working with WLUSA” a quarterly newsletter for WLUSA/OSSTF members
- to promote awareness among WLUSA/OSSTF members of relevant political issues
- to promote awareness among WLUSA/OSSTF members of relevant issues at Laurier
Karen Cleaver (Co-chair)
Karen is a 7 year employee of Wilfrid Laurier University and has been an active member of WLUSA/OSSTF for 6 years in a variety of roles including participation as a Council Representative for 4 years working on behalf of our members. She has also been part of the Collective Bargaining committee twice (including currently), an executive board member for several years and helps the Status of Women Committee. Her commitment to union members goes further with time as a provincial representative with OSSTF on the Education Services Committee and this, the CPAC Committee. She may be best known for her role leading the WLUSA Social Committee and all of their incredible events each year. Karen is driven by a desire to improve our members work environment and support the broader role that unions play in our workplaces and society. Outside of work, Karen enjoys volunteering, exercising and spending time with her family.
Lauren has been with Laurier as an employee since August 2014 working at the Library where she is a Reserves & User Services Associate and a member of the Library’s Accessibility Committee. Lauren joined CPAC to learn more about WLUSA’s work and services by helping to teach other WLUSA members about them. She brings previous experience from serving on the former Canadian Library Association’s Member Communications Committee and as the Moderator of their Library Technicians and Assistants Network. When she isn’t working her favourite things to do include reading, volunteering, playing video games and working on her blog.
Doug Roberts (Co-chair)
Doug has worked in the WLU Library for 20 years in different positions. Currently he works in Cataloguing as an Associate Cataloguer. He has been the Grievance Officer for WLUSA intermittently since 1999, and has been on various negotiations teams. In his spare time he enjoys picking up loose change on his way to and from work.
Filip Adamski graduated from the Laurier BBA program in August of 2016, and joined the Lazaridis School as the Business Process Specialist later that same month. Before starting in his full-time role, Filip was a team member with PRISMRESOURCES, also in the Lazaridis School. In his spare time, Filip enjoys staying up to date on news, attending live music events and volunteering in the community.
